3 Tensions existing within the noiseFlowz collection

The basic element of the images are free, acentric lines with spontaneous accentuations. The geometric characteristics, which are fundamental to a line, disappear in the free form wave-like lines of the images. The lines embrace a variety of creative expression ranging from the lyric to the dramatic. Gentle, smoothly curving lines are combined with meandering, jittery and jagged ones. Together, they represent the primary contrasting pair of lines that form a bridge to the creation of planes and shapes. An energetic feeling is imparted to the images by the combinations of the qualities of the lines. Parts of the image are at rest while other parts are in motion

A simple color palette was used to paint the images. A yellow orange and a green blue are the two main hues used to mix all the colors of the images. The warmth of the yellow orange hue is contrasted with the coolness of the green blue. They also complement each other by achieving a balance between warm and cool colors. A remarkable number of intermediary colors can be derived from just these two colors. Space is created by the interaction of the warm and cool colors.

Yellow orange and green blue are visual complementarities and lay opposite each other on the color-mixing palette. Visual complementarities are two colors that create each other’s afterimage when placed together in an image. An afterimage is an optical effect. It occurs when certain color receptors in our eyes become fatigued and other receptors, which are fully rested, take over. A simple example of an afterimage is when we stare fixedly at a color for a period of time and then see a faint image of its visual complementary color when we look away.

NoiseFlowz images exhibit a visual tension. This tension is the force living within the image and represents part of the creative movement. The movement is the material result of the directionality and the energy contained within the lines. The creative movement is created by the qualities of the lines that define the shapes of the images.
